Thai Yoga Bodywork Training & Background

Tanya holds Instructor status with Thai Healing Alliance International (THAI) and is honored to serve on their Executive Council. She is a senior student of Master Teacher (Ajahn) Pichest Boonethame of Chiang Mai, Thailand, and other notable teachers such as Ohm Rinraya, Bob Haddad, Homprang, in the field, at home and abroad. Tanya visits Thailand often where she continues her study of Thai Bodywork, as well as Buddhist meditation, Thai Shamanic Healing techniques, traditional Thai herbal and medical practices, and other cultural delights. Her first certification in Thai Yoga Bodywork came from Jonas Westring of Shantaya Healing Arts.

Motivated to help expand the knowledge of the traditional practices of hands-on-healing through bodywork, Tanya has been teaching her Thai Yoga Bodywork Practitioner Certificate Program that merges Traditional Thai Massage with the subtler work of Energy Medicine since 2003 and is honored to share students this ancient healing art.

Yoga Teacher Training & Background

Tanya fell in love with yoga and healed her body in the early 90s, and has found her calling as a Yoga Teacher in 1996 . She has meditated since age 15, and has a daily practice that includes chanting, movement, meditation, and gratitude. Tanya devotes her life to sharing the gifts of yoga, wellness and well-being with clarity, ease, and joy while keeping in mind the constant evolution of the soul. As a “teacher’s teacher,” Tanya blends her studies of the Sacred Rivers of Hatha Yoga, Tantra, Ayurveda and Energy Medicine in each offering. She also strives to help students uncover their highest potential though tapas (purification & discipline), stiram (steadiness in body/mind) and sukham (maintaining a healthy sense of humor or ease during practice).

Tanya has traveled and lived in a variety of foreign places from London to San Francisco, and has called Minneapolis, MN her home since 2001. Blessed to have been in the company and service of many amazing and globally conscious teachers, she is a dedicated lifelong student and continues to study regularly with teacher including as Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Judith Lasater, Indu Arora, and Gary Kraftsow. Through this wisdom, Tanya specializes in helping students create a therapeutic practice based on their physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as live a purposeful life connected to dharma (purpose).

Despite all the “accomplishment” as a yoga and wellness educator, Tanya shines in her ability to make the isoteric teachings of yoga accessible – and fun! – to everyone. She has lived a yogic lifestyle for many years, and brings her insight as a “householder yogi” to everything she does – being a full time single mom, business owner, homeowner, and student of this thing we call LIFE. In other words, Tanya makes yoga “real” and aims to live her life as an example of a modern yogini in today’s world.

Also multi-certified in many styles of Energy Medicine and Thai Yoga Bodywork, Tanya has served on the Executive Council of the Thai Healing Alliance (THAI), and is also a internationally recognized bodywork teacher. She offers one of the only multi-level certification program in Thai Yoga Bodywork in the USA and trains students in Devanadi’s Reiki Master Program. She leads retreats to Thailand, Costa Rica, Portugal, and in the US for other like-minded students and loves sharing the gifts of yoga with all people.

She teachers her Reiki Master Program here at Devanadi and is accepting new students.

Ayurveda & Yoga Therapist Training & Background

Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda have been a long-time studies for Tanya who learned about it in her early days of yoga. Since then, she has connected not only with the Thai Ayurvedic ways of healing but has continued her study in the Sevanti Ayurveda Wellness Counselor Program (AWCP) as well as the Himalayan Institute’s Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist (AYS) Training. She has completed HI’s Torchbearer/Advanced AYS studies and has served as an Himalayan Institute Adjunct Faculty Teacher. Tanya completed her Advanced Yoga Therapy Program* through YogSadhana with Indu Arora, and focuses on women’s health, stress/anxiety/depression, and other conditions. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. When she’s not upside down in Pincha Mayurasana, she’s usually talking about vata-derangement with like-minded students and craving a homemade chai!
